How to put your dog on a shirt
A custom dog shirt is only as good as the photo it starts from, but you do not need a professional camera. Here is how to pick the picture, what happens to it, and how to choose the look, words and colour.
1. Pick the photo
Scroll back through your camera roll and look for these things. They matter more than the camera:
- Sharp eyes. The eyes are what people look at first on a shirt.
- Daylight or a bright room; flash flattens fur and makes eyes glow.
- The whole head in the frame, ears and all. A photo that cuts off the body is fine; we fade the cut edge.
- One dog. The design is built around one animal.
- Your dog’s everyday face: head tilt, tongue out, the look they give you at dinner.
2. We cut them out
When you upload, the background is removed automatically, so your dog can sit inside a new scene: a sunny field, clouds and gates, a black shirt with golden wings. Photos stay private; they are used only to make your design.
3. Choose a look and the words
You will see your dog in every look at once and can switch between them. For the words, most people put the dog’s name at the bottom and a short top line above: "Best Friend", "Good Boy", "Good Girl", "Forever Faithful", "Dog Mom" or "Dog Dad", or "In Loving Memory" for a memorial.
4. Pick the shirt and colour
Tees ($39) and crewneck sweatshirts ($49) come in black, white, navy and grey, sizes S to 2XL, unisex fit. Looks with dark backgrounds are only offered on black, so the design never prints as a dark square on a light shirt; the designer shows which colours each look can go on.
5. Approve the proof

Can I put my dog on a shirt from a phone photo?
Yes. A phone photo works well. Pick one where the eyes are sharp and the light is good.

Will the print fade in the wash?
The print holds up wash after wash. Turn the shirt inside out and wash cold to keep it bright.
